EUCG 2020 Fall Workshop

June 18, 2020

Dear EUCG Members:

I hope that you and your families are doing well in these challenging times. Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the health and safety of our members because of Coronavirus (COVID 19) and in light of the continued significant travel restrictions of our member companies, the EUCG Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to hold the 2020 EUCG Fall Workshop scheduled for September 21-23 as a "Virtual Workshop". The decision was made after careful deliberation of the risks as determined by the CDC and WHO, consultation of leadership, and consideration of attendee and member company feedback.

While we will all miss being together in Long Beach, the "Virtual Fall 2020 Workshop" will enable us to have the same high-quality presentations and discussions by using interactive web enabled video conferencing tools.

So, What is the Plan?
The Committee Chairs, along with the entire EUCG Board of Directors, have been meeting to discuss the best virtual format including dates, times, and duration. The decision has been made to hold the Workshop over the two-day period of September 21-22. There will be both a morning block of time and an afternoon session block which will consider multiple member time zones. Additional committee-specific sessions may be scheduled outside of these two days, so please look for additional correspondence from the Committee Chairs.

What's New?
The Committee Chairs have looked closely both at their proposed agendas and the agendas of other committees and have realized that many sessions could be held as "joint" committee sessions with two or more committees or as "open" sessions by which all members of EUCG regardless of committee membership could participate and benefit from the curriculum. These "joint/open" sessions will occur on Monday, September 21. "Closed" committee member-only sessions will occur on Tuesday, September 22.

We hope that the "open/joint" sessions will allow a wider member audience to participate in more educational offerings of EUCG and will look to be an ongoing component of future EUCG Workshops.

Next Steps?
We will be finalizing the schedules and agendas and will be posting them to the EUCG, Inc. website. While registration fees will not be charged, we will require registration to make sure that we can issue credentials to participate virtually. We will stay in close contact with all of you in the coming weeks.

We hope that you spread the word at your member company to get additional colleagues involved in sessions of interest. With no registration fees or travel expenses, it only requires an hour or two of time for someone new to participate.

Stay tuned for more details and please let me know if I can provide any additional information in the interim.

Kind regards,

Don Kaiser
Executive Director
