EUCG 2023 Fall Workshop

EUCG 2023 Fall Workshop

EUCG is heading to Minneapolis, Minnesota, September 17th – 20th for our 2023 Fall Workshop! Join us and benefit from significant opportunities in networking and idea exchange with industry thought leaders from around the globe. The workshop will take place at The Royal Sonesta Minneapolis Downtown. We look forward to visiting the "City of Lakes" with its' beautiful and extensive public park system, and rich historical landmarks. We think this will be the perfect place to celebrate the end of EUCG's 50th year!

EUCG's 50th year started off with an outstanding turnout for our 2023 Spring Workshop, with 298 attendees from 49 companies!

Our General Session Keynote Panel Discussion on "The Future of the Electric Utility Industry", featured two leading experts: Gillian Clegg, Vice President of Energy Policy and Procurement for Pacific Gas and Electric Company, and David Treichler, Director of Strategy and Technology for Oncor Electric Delivery. The presentations by the panelists and the discussions that followed were a perfect way to kick off the workshop and energize our members going into their committee sessions.

We were all surprised and delighted to receive a recorded video from Pacific Gas & Electric Company's CEO, Patti Poppe, who congratulated the EUCG and its' members on 50 years in the industry and gave us her own vision and thoughts on what she believes the future of the electric utility industry will be. If you did not get a chance to see it during General Session, please take a look below!

Ruben Soto, from Southern California Edison, and Scott Trombley, from Duke Energy, led the first-ever Battery Energy Storage Systems Working Group (BESS) sessions, and members could not have been more enthusiastic in their responses for this new addition to the EUCG!

St. Louis was a perfect backdrop for three days of the best in benchmarking, best practices, and emerging issues!

Registration

Registration for the 2023 Fall Workshop is available online. The workshop is in-person, but still offers a virtual component in order to include as many EUCG members as possible.

For the 2023 Fall Workshop, an initial registration fee of $1,400.00 will be paid on a per company/per committee basis. That fee includes an in-person attendee registration, and unlimited virtual attendees from your company to enjoy that specific EUCG committees' program. Once your company has paid the committee workshop registration fee, any individual at your company may register and participate at no additional fee in the committee sessions virtually. Additional in-person attendees will pay a fee of $1,000.00.

We are excited that we’re able to host these hybrid workshops, which continue to bring the best of both worlds and maximize participation.

The in-person registration includes breakfast, lunch, and breaks for the duration of the event, the Welcome Reception on Sunday, September 17th, and the Monday Evening Networking Event.

Registration for the Fall 2023 Workshop is closed. If you still need to register virtually, please contact Don Kaiser at kaiser@eucg.org, or Lindsay Stranzl at lstranzl@eucg.org.

General Session Keynotes

EUCG is delighted to have Jonah Wagner, Chief Strategist, Loan Programs Office, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) provide a Keynote Address on “Unlocking Investment in Clean Energy Technologies”

Jonah Wagner

The next decade will be pivotal in establishing momentum towards deploying the clean energy technologies and infrastructure needed to mitigate the worst effects of climate change. The passage of BIL, CHIPS & Science, and the IRA have established an industrial strategy framework to transform America’s energy system and economy; the U.S. Department of Energy Loan Programs Office (LPO) alone saw its authorities increase from ~$40B to $400B. But a framework is not enough – now we need to execute. This talk will focus on the role of the Department of Energy and the LPO in enabling and accelerating private sector clean energy investment on the path to full market adoption and commercial liftoff.

Shyni George

Shonda Hammond

Tanya Mathur

EUCG is pleased to have Shyni George, Senior Data Scientist-Enterprise Analytics, Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), providing our second Keynote Address at our General Session on “Artificial Intelligence (AI) – Current Use Cases & Future Roadmap.” Ms. George has been with TVA for over 20 years with experience spanning transmission, reliability operations, power operations, and commercial energy solutions.

Providing additional insights on the topic will be Shonda Hammond, Senior Manager-Analytics, TVA, and Tanya Mathur, Manager-Enterprise Analytics, TVA. Ms. Hammond has over 20 years of experience in data and analytics and leads the Business Intelligence and Enterprise Analytics within TVA’ Technology and Innovation organization and oversees the Data and Analytics Center of Excellence at TVA. Ms. Mathur has been at TVA for 22 years in a wide range of roles and currently manages the Enterprise Analytics department within the Technology & innovation organization.

Virtual Workshop Technology

EUCG is committed to providing every attendee the best workshop experience possible in this hybrid setting. As we did for the previous hybrid workshop, EUCG will again be using WebEx to host the Fall 2023 Workshop. We know many of you are already familiar with, and use WebEx. We have been actively working with each committee to prepare meeting hosts and presenters, and will be offering the same training to any attendee who would like to be walked through the basics of a WebEx meeting.
